Top ten Twitter Apps
I’ve been using Twitter for over two years now I’ve seen many new updates and changes along the way but the one thing that I love best about Twitter is the apps and tools people make. I’ve tested many different Twitter apps and have come up with my top ten.
1.Buffer
Buffer is my favorite Twitter tool and the one that I use the most. Buffer sends your Tweets out at the best time to get the most interactions from it. I use their Google Chorme extension that lets you send Tweets to my Buffer where it will be scheduled and sent out at the best time. With Buffer it gives simple analytics about how many people have interacted with your Tweet and how many people have clicked on your link. I also use Buffer’s WordPress extension that automatically adds my newest posts to Buffer to be sent out without me doing a thing. And best of all Buffer is free to have up-to 10 updates scheduled which is quite a lot but if you need more it’s only $10/£6.20 a month.
2.Hootsuite
Hoosuite is the biggest social media dashboard on the internet. Mcdonalds,PepsiCo,SonyMusic,Lamborghnin,Virgin and WWF are just a few that are using Hootsuite. As I was just using Twitter.com to send and read Tweets before Hootsuite has been a massive time saver as you can see four feeds at one time, so you can easily see your home feed,mentions,direct mentions and what you’ve been Tweeting. Like Buffer Hootsuite lets you schedule your Tweets at the best time and see how many people have clicked your link. Hootsuite features some great analytics and graphics that you can integrate with your, Twitter,Facebook,Google+ and Google Analytics . If you have multiple Twitter accounts for different locations then you can choose where you send these updates to. The one thing that gives Hootsuite a big edge over SproutSocial is their Hootsuite University where you can become part of their certified professional list and receive a certificate and badge for your site. 3.Replyz
This tool is best I’ve found for finding questions that people have asked on Twitter. It’s very simple to use you don’t even need to have an account to use it. Just head to their website http://replyz.com/ and in the search bar type a keyword I type in social media help,Twitter help to look for ways I can help people. Once you’ve types your keyword in you’ll get a list of question that people have asked on Twitter. If you sign-in with your Twitter account then you can send your helpful answers to without leaving Replyz. It’s currently free to use so why not check it out now.
4.TweetCounter
TweetCounter gives you advanced statistics about your Twitter account. The site lets you create different graphs about your Twitter account you see how if your Twitter following is clearly going up or down and how many Tweets you’re making a day. Also this site gives you following predictions were they predict how long it will take for you to get “X” followers, all this is free forever but TweetCounter has a pro version that is being used by, Facebook,eBay and Coca-Cola that lets you see how many times your account has been mentioned,how many ReTweets you’re receiving and you can customize and compare your graphs and statistics against other accounts from just $75/£47 month.
5.Timely
This tool is just like Buffer as you can schedule Tweets and they’ll send them out at the best time and you can see the analytics but I choose to use this tool more often as they use a unique URL when shortening links (http://awe.sm/e2rrc) and I use their bookmark tool which makes it super quick and easy to schedule Tweets. Unfortunately Timely isn’t available on it’s own to new users and it’s closing to its users on November 16th but Timely is still available for people using Demandforce.
6.Tweet Grader
Tweet Grader by HubSpot is tool that gives you a score out of 100 based on your Twitter if it’s low then you’ll get suggestions on how you can improve it. Here’s a list of all the things that will affect your grade(written by HubSpot); 1. Number of Followers: More followers leads to a higher Twitter Grade (all other things being equal). Yes, I agree that it’s easy to game this number, but we are looking at measuring reach and I did say all other things being equal. 2. Power of Followers: If you have people with a high Twitter Grade following you, it counts more than those with a low Twitter Grade following you. It’s a bit recursive, and we don’t get carried away with it, but it helps. 3. Updates: More updates generally leads to a higher grade — within reason. This does not mean you should be tweeting like a manic squirrel cranked up on caffeine and sugar. It won’t help either your Twitter Grade or your overall happiness in life. 4. Update Recency: Users that are more current (i.e. time elapsed since last tweet is low) generally get higher grades. 5. Follower/Following Ratio: The higher the ratio, the better. However, the weight of this particular factor decreases as the user accrues points for other factors (so, once a user gets to a high level of followers or a high level of engagement, the Follower/Following ratio counts less). 6. Engagement: The more a given user’s tweets are being retweeted, the more times the user is being referenced or cited, the higher the twitter grade. Further, the value of the engagement is higher based on who is being engaged. If a user with a very high Twitter Grade retweets, it counts more than if a spammy account with a very low-grade retweets. The Grade Calculation: So, those are the factors that go into the calculation of a score. This score is then used to compare a user against all other users that also have a score. The grade is calculated as the approximate percentage of other users that have an equal or lower score. So, a Twitter Grade of 80 means that about 80% of the other users got a lower score. At the time this article is being written, over 2.1 million users have been graded. The Ranking: The absolute ranking is exactly what it sounds like. Based on all other users scored, what’s your “position” in that list. A ranking of 5,000 means that only 4,999 other people had a higher score than you (at that point in time). Elite List: The elite list is simply an ordered list of the top users (based on ranking) at a given point in time. This list is updated several times a day. We also maintain lists of the top ranking users based on a narrower set of users (like those in a specific geography, those that match a specific keyword, etc.). I used this grader as a guide. ticking of everything that gets suggested.
7.Klout
Klout is a social media analytics tool that helps you understand your influence on not only Twitter but most of the other social networks as-well. Klout gives you a score out of 100 which is your social influence for example Lady Ga Ga the most followed person on Twitter has score of 93. With Klout you can see how influential you’re becoming on your social networks,see how many interactions you’re getting up-to 90 days in the past. My favorite part of Klout is moments where I can clearly see what is working on my social networks and what isn’t and see who’s been interacting with me. Another great feature that Klout has is Klout Perks where you can get free samples of great products if you have a high enough influence in that area.
8.TweetStats
Tweet stats gives you the most in-depth statistics about your Twitter account it takes a while to gather all the data as lots of people use it but it’s worth the wait. TweetStats lets you see everything from the different times that you Tweet to who Tweets you. The site also lets you see your TweetCloud of the words that you Tweet the most. The site is very basic but very clever.
9.PeerIndex
PeerIndex is similar to Klout as it measures your social influence but calculates your score differently and on a smaller basics. You can connect your Twitter,Facebook,LinkedIn and Quora. You get a score out 100 which is calculated by your social interactions and whom you interact with. PeerIndex topics are more evolved than Klout’s they give you two different columns for your topics, one’s your benchmark topic everyone has these eight topics you’ll be given a score out 100 on each of these, the other column is your top topics these are the topics that you talk about most often. PeerIndex also features perks like Klout but as PeerIndex is small you have a bigger chance of receiving the perks.
10.Tweetdeck
Tweetdeck is a free Twitter dashboard that’s owned by Twitter that works on your desktop or on the internet. Tweetdeck features columns just like Hootsuite, you can set what each column displays and how many you would like. Tweetdeck lets you sync your Bit.ly account so that you can track your shortened URLs. Tweetdeck lets you schedule your posts up-to a year in advance and the time you want. I especially like how simple,easy and quick Tweetdeck is to use on a regular basics.
